To improve the financial health of cooperative sugar mills of Punjab and to save the environment, the Cooperation & Jail Minister, Punjab, S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa alongwith Additional Chief Secretary, Cooperation, Mrs. Kalpana Mittal Baruah, Mr. Vikas Garg, Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Punjab and Mr. Kanwaljit Singh, Deputy Chief Engineer, Sugarfed today visited a State of the Art BioCNG Bottling & Fertilizer Plant set up with modern technology at Govardhanathji Energies LLP, Village Pij, Tehsil Vaso, District Nadiad in Gujarat.
It has been developed by M/s. CEID Consultants & Engineering Pvt. Ltd., Ahmedabad (Gujarat).
The minister was apprised that the plant is producing Bio-CNG Gas & Fertilizer from Press mud generated by the sugar mills; wastage of milk plants, polluted water generated by effluent treatment plants; municipal solid wastes; rotten & leftover of vegetables, fruit & vegetable wastes generated by vegetable markets and food wastes etc.
The BioCNG gas produced is bottled and filled in Cylinders to be sold in the open market and the organic manure is also sold in the market.
The Minister directed the Additional Chief Secretary Cooperation & Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Punjab that Cooperation Department should devise a plan to set up a similar plant at Batala by using the wastage of sugar mills i.e. press mud from Ajnala, Batala & Gurdaspur Cooperative Sugar Mills, solid municipal waste of municipal corporations, polluted water generated by effluent treatment plants of Milk Plants so as to produce BioCNG Gas & Organic Manure which will be sold in the market. By this not only financial health of sugar mills will improve but also help improve the environment in the surrounding areas.
