Sukhbir Badal seeks participation of Sant Samaj in 550th Parkash Purb Celebrations

Chandigarh/August 31, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal asserted the 550th Parkash Purb celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji could not be completed without active participation and counseling of the Sant Samaj, a conglomerate of a number of Sikh religious groups and sects, saying these sects had a glorious history of leading and guiding the Panth through thick and thin.

These views were stated by the SAD president while addressing a meeting of various Sikh religious groups and sects held under the chairmanship of Baba Harnam Singh, head Damdami Taksal and president of Sant samaj at Bibi Koulan Ji Welfare Center in Sultanpur Lodhi yesterday evening.

Union food supplies industries minister Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal and former minister S. Bikram Singh Majithia were also present on the occasion.

The SAD President said the Sant Samaj had been playing a significant role in propagating Sikh tenets and safeguarding the core values of Sikhism since ages. ”We need your guidance and involvement for Guru Sahib’s commemorative celebrations.

Kindly suggest us on ways to make the ceremonies compliant with Gurmat and Rahat Maryada so that they act as a medium for spreading the teachings enshrined in the Gurbani” he urged the Sant Samaj.

Mr Badal appealed all to take Sikhism ahead with the spreading of Gurusahib’s teachings. He mentioned that SAD was not a private property of any individual but a truly representative organization of entire Sikh Panth being run by its committed and hardworking workers. “After me, it will have a new president and it’s a regular process. SAD president is just chief sewadar, nothing else” he added.

On this occasion, Union Minister Mrs. Harsimrat Kaur Badal appealed all to donate as much as they could for the arrangements of celebration, disclosing that a special bank account had been opened with a special number: 55055013131313. She said the account also had Paytm facility. She urged all to make sure Sultanpur Lodhi was converted into a white city, promising that she would also do ‘Sewa’ in this regard.

Like everyone speaking on the occasion, former minister Bikram Singh Majithia mentioned that he wholeheartedly believed in Sikh tenets since childhood and would do till the last breath. The SAD President, Mrs Bdal and Mr Majithia urged the Sant Samaj to continue to guide and counsel them.
