Steep hike in LPG prices a bolt from the blue for common man: Bhagwant Mann

Chandigarh, February 13, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

The Punjab unit President of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Member of Parliament (MP) from Sangrur, Bhagwant Mann has slammed the Modi-led government at the centre for the unprecedented hike in the LPG prices, seeking an immediate roll back on the decision which seemed to have been taken in a tearing hurry.

In a statement issued from party headquarters here in Chandigarh on Thursday, Bhagwant Mann said that the steep hike, which came a day after the declaration of the Delhi assembly polls, was set to burn a big hole in poor man’s pocket.

He said, the move was perhaps triggered by the decimation of the BJP in the Delhi elections, stating that the quirky move had brought forth the anti-people face of the Narendra Modi government.

The Sangrur parliamentarian said that the LPG rates which were usually jacked up on the first of every month, the revision this time around was kept on hold for a while till the declaration of the Delhi election results, which, he said, was a well thought-out design of the Modi-government to leveraging it in achieving their political ambitions and ends.

The AAP MP further said that the steep hike in the LPG prices by Rs 144.5 per cylinder, being the 6th consecutive hike during the past sixth months and the steepest since January 2014, left the common people dazed, alleging that PM Narendra Modi had, once against proved beyond doubt that he cared two hoots for the common man, and was indulging in the appeasement of the Adanis, the Ambanis and a handful of corporate houses in the country.

Mann castigated the Modi government over the unprecedented hike in the LPG prices, which was set to hit hard the common man’s monthly budget to keep their kitchen fire burning, seeking an immediate roll back on the prices as also keeping a constant check on the recurring hikes in the prices of the LPG which had already hit the roof.

Taking a swipe at the Badals for their dubious role over the issues and concerns of the state and its people, saying that they had always betrayed the interests of the people by maintaining a stoic silence over the issues and concerns just to protect the ministerial berth of the Badal ‘Bahu’ Harsimrat Kaur Badal. He said if they had a semblance of love lost for the people of the state, they should part ways with their alliance partners, by pulling out of the ‘unholy’ alliance on the issue of the quantum hike in the LPG.

Mann threatened that added that if the government failed to take an urgent call on the roll back of the hike in LPG cylinder prices, the AAP would be left with no choice but to reach out to each and every household in the state to expose the Modi government for its anti-people policies.
