Speed up establishment of PGI Satellite Centre at Ferozepur – Sukhbir Badal

Chandigarh, June 24, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president and Ferozpur mp Sukhbir Singh Badal today urged union health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan to speed up establishment of the 100 bedded PGI Satellite Centre in the border district of Ferozepur.

The Ferozpur mp, who met the union health minister and also submitted a memorandum to him on this issue, informed Dr Vardhan that the project had got mired in bureaucratic hurdles. He gave the example of the Satellite Centre for Sangrur which had already taken off despite being passed along with the Ferozpur Centre.

Stating that the project had become a casualty of procedural wrangling, Mr Sukhbir Badal urged the union minister to take necessary steps to lay the foundation stone of the project at the earliest. “Following this work on the project should start without any further delay”, he added.

Mr Badal also brought it to the notice of Dr Vardhan that establishment of the Satellite Centre was a vital need of the people of Ferozpur. He said the people found it very difficult to traverse to the PGIMER Chandigarh for specialized health care services and that the same should be provided to them at Ferozepur as envisaged at the earliest.
