Special Mobile App ensures 24×7 monitoring of Water Supply and Sanitation Services in Sultanpur Lodhi

To ensure the top-class water supply and sanitation facilities, the department of Water Supply and Sanitation (DWSS) has developed a special mobile app to keep a tab over the smooth operation of entire system.

Divulging the details, Superintending Engineer Mr. Kuldeep Singh Saini said that mobile app has ensured the regular inspection of the system and fixing up the faults well in-time.

He said that the mobile app ‘WSS550’ has been developed by the department, which ensures the compulsory visit of the field staff to the various points. He said that to attend the sea of pilgrims more than 4000 toilets, 10 water ATMs and 50 Water Stations have been set up by the department.

Emphasizing over the smooth functioning of this infrastructure need for the regular checking was felt among the top brass of the department, added Mr. Saini, which led towards the development of this app.

He said that all the public facilities and water points in the city have been equipped with a QR code, which must be scanned by the inspecting officers during the time of their inspection.

The moment they scan the QR code a new window pop up on their mobile having a questionnaire regarding the working of the system being inspected, said the SE.

He further added that the questionnaire has the questions like if water station is working properly, Is there any fault observed in the facilities and many more, The inspecting officer was duty bound to mention his observations. If any flaw found in the system, is bound to be resolved within three hours of inspection and the officials are duty bound to check the entire system after every four hours, said Mr. Saini.

He said that there are more than 100 spots which are being checked after an interval of four hour to ensure the smooth operation of the system.

He said that Superintending Engineer Sukhminder Singh (Patiala circle), Paramjit Singh (Jalandhar circle) and Sukhpinder singh, Executive Engineer Kapurthala are supervising the grievance redressal mechanism.

Mr. Saini said that till date around 1200 issues have been reported in the system out of which 1180 have been resolved by the concerned staff, adding he said that the system is also useful for pilgrims as they can send their complaints cum feedback regarding the system.

The SE said that the app is covering entire 19 parking, 70 Langars spread across the 1000 acres of land. Six mobile vans have been deployed in the city to fix minor faults and ensure routine maintenance.

He said that the whole plan has been executed under the guidance of Cabinet Minister Mrs. Razia Sultana, Secretary of the department Jaspreet Talwar, Addition Secretary Mohamed Ishfaq and other officers.

MLA Sultanpur Lodhi Navtej Singh Cheema while lauding the unique initiative said that the Punjab government is committed to provide smooth and hassle free services to the pilgrims and to achieve this goal multi-pronged strategy has been adopted by the various department.

He said that the administration will leave no stone unturned to ensure the maximum facility and minimum problem to the pilgrims visiting the holy city.
