Sohana Hospital Mohali first to launch LASIK treatment for specs removal

Mohali, May 6, 2022, (Yes Punjab News)
“With new technology in Contoura Vision LASIK surgery can be performed in 10 minutes” said Dr Amarpreet Kaur, COO and Chief Refractive Surgeon at Sohana Hospital Mohali. The latest technology was launched at the 400-bedded super speciality hospital in Sector 77, Mohali in the Advanced Eye Care Centre.

The wave light EX500 excimer laser, built on trusted wavelight technology is a big leap forward in efficient and accurate refractive laser vision treatment. What makes this new technology unique from other techniques is its ablation speed, which is running at 500 hertz. In simple words, this is good news because now the laser accesses the position of the eye 500 times per second.

Sohana Advanced Eye Care center is the first hospital in the region to launch this new technology. The new machine was launched and inaugurated by Bhai Davinder Singh Ji Khalsa, Chairman of Sri Guru Harkrishan Sahib © Eye Hospital Trust in a simple function.

Multicenter clinical trial results demonstrate that the personalized topography guided LASIK procedure with this new machine has not only reduced the time taken for performing the surgery, but quality of vision also seems to have improved manifold soon after the surgery.

DrAmanpreet Kaur further informed the gathering that this new and innovative technology reduces potential for Stormal dehydration of cornea, flap shrinkage, sensitivity to eye movement and patient fixation fatigue. It is clear that this technique was designed to improve not only the effectiveness of eye surgeons but is going to benefit the patients in the long run.

Alcon, the global leader in Eye care, is always spearheaded towards introduction of technological advancements in eye care and has exclusive tie-up with Sohana Hospital Mohali.
