Skill Development Centre at Ludhiana to be named after Lord Vishwakarma: Bharat Bhushan Ashu

Punjab Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu today announced that the Skill Development Centre coming up in Dhandra cluster would be named after Lord Vishwakarma Ji.

He informed that the Capt Amarinder Singh led Punjab government is spending around Rs 3.5 crore on this particular Skill Development Centre. He announced this while addressing the gathering on the occasion of state level function organised on the occasion of Vishwakarma Day at Vishwakarma Bhawan in Miller Ganj area of city, here today.

While speaking on the occassion, Mr Ashu stated that Lord Vishwakarma Ji was the founder of the Craft, Architecture and Engineering on the earth. He said that whatever industrial and infrastructure growth today we observe around, was happening only with the blessings and mechanical skills created by Lord Vishwakarma that had facilitated mankind to grow faster with technological day-by-day advancements.

On this occasion, he announced that a Skill Development Centre in the name of Lord Vishwakarma Ji would be coming up in Ludhiana so that our youth can be empowered and their skills are polished. He said that the Punjab government would ensure that there is no shortage of funds for this project.

He also announced a grant of Rs 5 lakh for the construction of the upcoming Vishwakarma Bhawan in Miller Ganj area.

Mr Ashu further said that in line with the ideology and teachings of Lord Vishwakarma, the Punjab government has been laying thrust on imparting skill training to the youth across the state so they could live a life with dignity and self respect.

Lord Vishwakarma Ji was a divine architect of the entire universe, who was believed to be the master of all machinery and equipments being used by the people in the industrial activities.

Exhorting the people to follow the footsteps of this great Deity of all craftsmen and architects, Mr Ashu said the promotion of skill training across the state would be befitting tribute to the Lord Vishwakarma, who has ever inspired the artisans, workers and labour class to work hard with utmost dedication and commitment.

MLAs Mr Surinder Dawar and Mr Kuldeep Singh Vaid appealed the people, especially the Punjabi youth to improve their professional skills following the message of Lord Vishwakarma to enhance their abilities for capturing new jobs avenues created with the induction of modern technology and efforts of the state government.

Punjab Medium Industries Development Board Chairman Mr Amarjit Singh Tikka urged the state government to assist the managing committee for the construction of Vishwakarma Bhawan.

He also thanked Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh for choosing this historic Vishwakarma Mandir for organising the state level function of Vishwakarma Day. Punjab Youth Development Board Mr Sukhwinder Singh Bindra also addressed the gathering.

On this occasion, the Vishwakarma Bhawan Committee honoured several prominent industrialists namely Mr Avtar Singh Bhogal, Mr Surjit Singh Chaggar, Mr Paramjit Singh Plaha, Mr Surinder Singh Panesar, Mr Surjit Singh Lotey, Mr Manmohan Singh Chaggar, Mr Inderjit Singh Sohal, Mr Amarjit Singh Dimple with Vishwakarma Awards, besides sewing machines were also distributed amongst needy women.

Prominent among those present on the occasion included Mayor Mr Balkar Singh Sandhu, ADC (General) Mr Iqbal Singh Sandhu, Bankfinco vice chairman Mohd Gulab, BHAVADAS leader Mr Naresh Dhigan, Councillor Mr Iqbal Singh Sonu, PPCC General Secretary Mr Kulwant Singh Sidhu, Mandir Committee president Mr Ranjit Kumar Salh, Mr Ashish Salh, besides several others.
