Sirsa urges Sitharaman to allocate funds for celebration of 400th Parkash Purb of Guru Tegh Bahadur

The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) President Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa has urged the Union Finance Minister Mrs. Nirmala Sitharaman to allocate special funds for celebration of 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib ji in the upcoming budget.

In a statement issued here today, Mr. Sirsa said that as the Finance Minister will present Union budget on February 1, it is necessary to allocate funds for celebration of birth anniversary of Guru Sahib on large scale which is coming in April 2021.

Mr. Sirsa said that as the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has himself acknowledged that present India owes its existence to supreme sacrifice by Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib ji.

He said that great guru had resisted conversion of Kashmiri Pandits and non Muslims to Islam and made his supreme sacrifice at Chandni Chowk Delhi where now Gurudwara Sisganj Sahib is situated and his body was cremated where now Gurudwara Rakabganj Sahib is situated.

Mr. Sirsa said that 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib is an event which not only Sikh community but all peace loving people want to celebrate across the globe. He said that this celebration is likely to continue whole year.

He said that allocation of funds in coming budget can ensure and fulfill wish of the Sikh community to organize events related with Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib ji whole year till April 2021.

He said that the DSGMC and other Sikh institutions will play a pro active role in these celebration as they are elected bodies under Parliament Acts. He said that he was hopeful that Government will allocate appropriate amount of funds for these celebrations.
