Sirsa-led DSGMC delegation meets J&K LG, families of slain Principal & Trader

The Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) led by its President Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa today met Manoj Sinha Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir and took up issue of assassination of Prinicpal Supinder Kaur, teacher Deepak Chand and trader Makhan Lal Bindroo in recent days by terrorists with a single motive to scare minorities in Kashmir to force them to leave state.

Delegation, which also included General Secretary Harmeet Singh Kalka, apprised the LG about how Minorities were facing serious problems including threats to their lives by terrorists. They urged the LG to take up concrete steps to ensure that security and safety of all the members of Minorities including Sikh community.

They also reminded him of abduction and forceful conversion of two Sikh girls. They impressed upon him to ensure grant of Minority status to Sikhs in Jammu and Kashmir, constitution of Minority Commission for welfare of Sikhs, reinstatement of second official language for Punjabi besides other demands.

During the meeting, LG Sinha assured the delegation that Administration has identified residential areas of the Minorities and it will deputing special security in these areas. He said that fool proof security and safety of Minorities will be ensure.

LG also told the Delegation that though terrorists have succeeded in one such attempt to kill people of minorities but Administration will ensure that they never succeed in such attempts in future. He also assured that terrorist who have killed Principal, teacher and trader will be identified and strict punishment for them will be ensure.

He also told delegation that he is available round the clock and if anyone has any problem he/she can call or meet him anytime.

Earlier before meeting LG, this delegation, which has come to Kashmir as per directive of the Shiromani Akali Dal President Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal, also met families of slain Principal Supinder Kaur and teacher Deepak Chand.

After meeting them, Mr. Sirsa said that it was an emotional moment for him to meet courageous Jasleen Kaur daughter of late Principal Supinder Kaur, He disclosed that Jasleen reminded him that Supinder ji had talked to him on phone many times in past regarding the social fabric of Kashmir and issues, faced by the Sikhs here. He said that she was a strong women. Delegation including Sirsa and Kalka expressed solidarity with minority families and assured them all possible help.

After meeting family of trader Bindroo, Mr. Kalka said that Bindroo was a humble and compassionate person who stood for every person whether rich or ppor during the last 31 year of the insurgency and provided medicines free of cost to the needy.
