The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) President Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa expressed gratitude to President of India, Sh Ram Nath Kovind , Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for accepting the demand put forth by Shiromani Akali Dal for celebrating 400th Parkash Purab of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji nationwide.
In a statement released here today, Mr. Sirsa said that the Governmentt of India has decided to celebrate the 400th Gurpurab of Gurh Tegh Bahadur Sahib ji with great enthusiasm and in all states of India and abroad.
He said that a delegation led by the Shiromani Akali Dal President Mr. Sukhbir Singh Badal and had met Mr. Shah and had impressed upon to celebrate this historic occasion.
He said that this celebration is a perfect tribute to the supreme martyrdom of Gurh Sahib who laid down the foundation of religious freedom in India through his supreme sacrifie. He said that while celebrating the occasion of his birthday we will ensure that a campaign is launched door to door to apprise the people about how Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib chose to be a martyr to protect the religious faith of Kashmiri Pandits.
Mr. Sirsa said that even the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi has publicly said that India owes its existence to supreme martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib ji and in today’s India people are enjoying religious freedom only because of his martyrdom.
He said that he had already appealed to the Finance Minister Mrs. Nirmala Sitharaman to announce a special budgetary provision while presenting the Union budget on February 1, 2020 for celebrating this historic event which falls in April 2021.
