Taking stern view of media reports, the Labour Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu on Thursday suspended the Additional Director Factories, M.P. Beri besides contemplating serious administrative action against him.
Disclosing this here today, spokesperson of the Government said that the above employee was shown accepting bribe of Rs. 25,000.
It is pertinent to mention here that a video showing Beri having accepted bribe went viral today in which Lok Insaaf Party Chief, Punjab MLA and LIP candidate from Ludhiana was shown questioning Beri regarding his corrupt practices. Bains, holding the amount of Rs.25,000 recovered from Beri tells him that he had two months back asked him not to harass Ludhiana industrialists but he did not heed to his request and was continuing with his corrupt practices. On Bains’ asking, Beri tells him that he was serving after getting extension after retirement and was drawing a salary of Rs. 1.5 lakh per month.
Reiterating Government’s firm commitment to weed out corruption from system, Balbir Singh Sidhu warned anyone found involved in illicit practices would be strongly dealt with.
