Sikh Football Cup – 8 ‘Sabat Surat’ teams enter Quarter Finals

Keshdhari football teams from eight districts have entered into the quarter-finals of historic Sikh Football Cup being organised by the Khalsa Football Club (Khalsa FC) and Global Sikh Sports Federation in Punjab and Chandigarh. Four quarter-finals would be played at different football stadiums in Punjab on February 4 at 11am.

Disclosing this here today Khalsa FC president Harjeet Singh Grewal informed that 23 Sabat-Soorat (Unshorn hair & beards) football teams from all districts of Punjab and Chandigarh are playing on knockout basis in this unique tournament. During these quarter finals, Khalsa FC Amritsar Keshdhari team will play against Khalsa FC Gurdaspur at Khalsa College Amritsar.

Similarly Khalsa FC Jalandhar would contest with Khalsa FC SBS Nagar team at Sant Baba Bhag Singh University (SBBSU) Jalandhar. Besides, Khalsa FC Bathinda and Khalsa FC Barnala would play at Mata Gujri College Fatehgarh Sahib whereas Khalsa FC Patiala and Khalsa FC Rupnagar would also contest at the same venue in the afternoon.

He further informed that after these contests two semifinals of this event have been fixed at SBBSU Jalandhar on February 6 at 11am. Final and closing ceremony of Sikh football cup would be held at football stadium, sector 42, Chandigarh on February 8 at 11am.

Divulging more football promoter Grewal said Jathedar Sri Akal Takhat Sahib, Singh Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh ji will be the chief guest whereas Jathedar Sri Keshgarh Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh will provide over the prize distribution function.

Director sports UT Chandigarh Tejdeep Singh Saini, Director Education RS Brar and former MLA & senior Supreme Court lawyer Harvinder Singh Phoolka would also grace the occasion.
