Sikh body asks people of Jammu and Kashmir to report people with foreign travel history

Chandigarh, March 24, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) has asked the people to take all precautions so as to ensure that Novel Corona Virus also known as Covid-19 does not impact the lives of people of the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

In a statement, APSCC Chairman Jagmohan Singh Raina said that since doctors and the other experts have advised people to follow social distancing it is imperative that these directions are complied to by the people of Jammu & Kashmir. Raina said that slackness in this regard would lead to havoc among the population of the union territory.

“When it comes to the health of the people it is important that all the necessary precautions are taken by common masses. Since Corona Virus is a communicable deadly disease it is necessary that people avoid social contact and in case they have to do so then a gap of at least three feet has to be maintained between two persons,” said Raina.

The APSCC Chairman expressed concern that some of the persons who are coming from foreign countries are not cooperating by not giving full details about their travel history to the concerned officials. He said the family members of such people should come forward and provide travel details of their dear ones without any fail.

“In the present scenario people who have travelled to foreign in the recent past should themselves give details about the visit. In case they don’t do so then they are risking their own life along with their family members. Self declaration is important and it has to be followed by one and all who have a travel history to foreign countries,” said Raina.

The APSCC Chairman said that need of the hour is that all the social, religious and political gatherings are cancelled adding that it would ensure that there is no public participation in such programmes. He said that people should extend their full cooperation to the administration working on the ground to control Corona Virus.

Raina said that any negligence in this regard would be catastrophic for the entire population of Jammu & Kashmir and it would be difficult to contain the situation. He said that wisdom demands that people should remain indoors and only those people should come out who are associated with essential services or have to do so on account of some medical emergency.
