Sidhu should resign, Gandhi family won’t help: Bir Devinder Singh

Chandigarh, July 5, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

Bir Devinder Singh, the Deputy Speaker of Punjab Vidhan Sabha and senior leader of Akali Dal Taksali today said if matters are not sorted out to his satisfaction in a dignified manner, Punjab Cabinet Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu should immediately resign from the council of Ministers, rather than suffering political subjugation and indignant humiliation.

In a press release issued here today, Bir Devinder Singh said, “It sounds quite abysmal that no one is in charge of the most important power portfolio in Punjab for more than a month, that too in this peak season of paddy plantation. I wonder that who is responsible to clear files with regards to decision making, pertaining to power department in this shoddy governance.”

Singh said regrettably the incumbent dispensation led by Capt. Amarinder Singh could afford to keep matters of great significance in an indeterminate state, that too indefinitely.

Bir Devinder SinghHe said he would only expect from Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu that if matters are not sorted out, to his satisfaction in a dignified manner then the sagacity demands that he should immediately resign from the council of Ministers.

The former deputy speaker said as an elderly person having spent almost four decades in the Congress Party and also having worked with both Capt. Amarinder Singh and the Gandhi Family in various capacities over the period, he may well advise Sidhu that if he adheres to self-respect and dignity, he must quit the cabinet headed by his bête-noire as sometimes quitting is the more honorable option than working disgustingly with a prejudiced bugbear.

Bir Devinder Singh said, Sidhu should have realized by now that Capt. Amarinder Singh is not an ordinary Machiavellian politician, he is the reincarnation of the fifteenth century’s political philosopher Mr. Nicolo Machiavelli, who is best known for writing, ‘The Prince’ a handbook, for unscrupulous politicians to master mind, conspiracy theories and intrigues.

“This is why Capt. Amrinder Singh has successfully outmaneuvered all his inconvenient colleagues in the Congress Party, one by one, including me. I’m sure destiny would recall Navjot Sidhu to serve the people of Punjab at an opportune time and there is nothing to worry. Gandhi family would never help Sidhu to restore his dignity for many inexplicable reasons,” the former deputy speaker said.

It is all the more strange and despicable that in the Congress regime in Punjab; even matters relating to distribution of portfolios to the members of the council of ministers are referred for third party arbitration. It’s atrocious that the State of Punjab is being made to suffer inappropriate financial burdens of Ministers, who in turn are not doing anything for the State and despite the State being fiscal wreck as per its current economic parameters. Then why allow anybody enjoying the status of the cabinet ministers to squander the resources for doing nothing for the State?

Bir Devinder Singh said, already there is no dearth of such political appointees of Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh who are doing no productive work but eating in to the vital wealth of the State.

He said there has to be some system in place to evaluate the engagement of work and efficiency of such political appointees, On the contrary note the Punjab Government has failed to launch its much hyped Sarbat Sehat Yojna (Universal health insurance scheme) on July 1 as declared by the health Minister due to the empty coffers of the State.
