An emergency meeting of senior leaders of the party was held at Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) headquarters in Mohali under the leadership of party president and former Union Minister Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa.
In which the party held an open discussion about the by-election in Lok Sabha constituency Jalandhar. During this time, the leaders present expressed the views that many complex issues of Punjab and especially the Sikhs are not being resolved at present.
Due to which the state and especially the Sikh community is not getting a solution, the state is suffering a huge loss and for the past one month, the Punjab government has been arresting the Sikh youth without any charge and their future is being ruined and the innocent Sikh leaders and youth has been locked up in Dibrugarh Jail in Assam under NSA. Which is unconstitutional.
In the meeting, it was also regretted that on the occasion of Baisakhi, the birth anniversary of the Khalsa, on April 14, devotees were searched by the police at Shri Akal Takht Sahib Amritsar, Takht Shri Damdama Sahib and Takht Shri Anandpur Sahib on the instructions of the Punjab government.
Yesterday senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister of Gujarat Vijay Rupani, Punjab BJP President Ashwini Sharma, Senior Vice President Kewal Singh Dhillon and other leaders met with Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) President Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and organized the Jalandhar by-election by BJP. support was sought for After which, in today’s meeting, all the leaders unanimously decided to support the BJP.
The party is of the opinion that in this by-election the BJP candidate whose background is related to the Shiromani Akali Dal should be given strong support and it was also suggested that Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa should be supported by Sant Samaj, Sikh leaders and the leaders of the Kaumi Insaaf Morcha.
There should be a discussion about the demands of the Sikh community and a delegation from all these should meet the Prime Minister.
