Shiromani Akali Dal Delhi State cannot be a purely religious party: Inder Mohan Singh

New Delhi, March 19, 2022 (Yes Punjab News)
While declaring the recent formation of new party ‘Shiromani Akali Dal Delhi State’ by Harmeet Singh Kalka, present President of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) as controversial, Mr Inder Mohan Singh, Expert in Delhi Gurdwara Affairs said that the intention of this party has put the Delhi Sikh Sangat into great confusion.

Inder Mohan SinghHe said that this party is claimed as purely religious party but on the other hand the said party is stated to give appropriate co-operation in case anybody connected with it decides to contest any political election. Mr Inder Mohan Singh, while raising doubts said that it appears that political colour has also been given to this party by back door while declaring it as a purely religious body.

He asked the Chief Patron Harmeet Singh Kalka as to how this double agenda party can be purely religious ? Mr Inder Mohan Singh said that misuse of Gurdwara funds of DSGMC by this suspicious party in ensuing political elections cannot be ruled out because the members of the entire present Executive Board of DSGMC belong to this new party.

Mr Inder Mohan Singh, while giving information said that the Delhi Government’s Gurdwara Election Directorate has already given reserved symbol of ‘Bucket’ to the existing ‘Shiromani Akali Dal Delhi State’ led by Sukhbir Singh Badal although this party is not registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860, whereas it is mandatory under the Delhi Sikh Gurdwaras Act 1971 for every such party seeking reserved election symbol.

He said that although the newly formed ‘Shiromani Akali Dal Delhi State’ led by Mr Kalka is said to be registered under the Societies Act but as per Delhi Gurdwara Rules, different symbols cannot be allotted to two parties with the same name.

Mr Inder Mohan Singh said that the anti-defection law is not applicable in Delhi Gurdwara Elections, hence claim for forming Committee is based on Head counts and the group having a minimum of 26 members is successful in taking control of the Executive Board of the DSGMC.
