While demanding strict action against the woman who set the Gurdwara Sahib on fire in Jaulian village of Bhawanigarh, Sangrur district, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the SGPC will pursue this case so that the culprits could be punished.
Bibi Jagir Kaur said the accused woman has been arrested but exposing those people who are behind this incident is important.
“In this regard, a delegation of SGPC will meet Sangrur senior superintendent of police (SSP) on June 29 and submit a memorandum for taking appropriate action against the actual culprits. SGPC will pursue and fight the case”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.
She said that the SGPC delegation will be comprising of SGPC junior vice-president Baba Buta Singh, executive committee members Satwinder Singh Tohra, Bhupinder Singh Bhalwan, member Baldev Singh Chungan and Bibi Malkit Kaur along with all the SGPC members of the district and the Sangat (devotees).
The SGPC president said that repeated incidents of sacrilege are taking place and appropriate action is not being taken even after the culprits are arrested on the spot or later.
“The police administration’s action has been negligent even after the incident of fire at Gurdwara Sahib in Jaulian village of Sangrur district. SGPC will make every effort to punish the culprits of this incident, under which, the case will be pursued. This incident is not normal and the police administration should go to its depth to identify the actual culprits”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.
Meanwhile, SGPC president also appealed to the managing committees and Sangat of Gurdwaras to be alert in the maintenance and upkeep of Gurudwaras so that the ploys of mischievous elements do not succeed.
