Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) managed the airfare of 11 Afghan Sikhs, who arrived in India from Afghanistan on Thursday, due to recent terror attack on Gurdwara Sahib in Karte Parwan near Kabul and also assured them every possible support.
SGPC member Bhai Amarjit Singh Chawla, assistant secretary S. Simarjeet Singh, Bibi Ranjit Kaur of Delhi and Delhi Sikh Mission in-charge S. Surinder Pal Singh today welcomed the Afghan Sikhs who arrived at the airport in New Delhi.
Notably, SGPC President Advocate S. Harjinder Singh had announced that the air travel expense of Sikhs coming to India from Afghanistan would be managed by SGPC and under the same call, an amount of Rs 2.86 lakh has been provided for the first batch of 11 Afghan Sikhs who reached India.
SGPC member Bhai Amarjit Singh Chawla who reached the airport at Delhi to welcome Afghan Sikhs said that the SGPC, realising its responsibility, had promised to bring Afghan Sikhs to India, of which, the first batch of 11 Sikh arrived Delhi today.
He said among the Sikhs who arrived Bhai Raghbir Singh, who was injured in the recent attack also reached here and the batch also brought along with them the ashes of Bhai Sawinder Singh, who was killed in the recent attack on Gurdwara Sahib.
Bhai Amarjit Singh said the Sikhs who arrived from Afghanistan have reached Gurdwara Guru Arjan Dev Ji at Tilak Nagar in New Delhi, where they were welcomed by the Sangat in large numbers.
On this occasion, the Sikhs who arrived from Afghanistan including S. Manmohan Singh Sethi, injured S. Raghbir Singh, S. Jagmeet Singh, S. Ajmeet Singh, S. Baldev Singh, S. Surinder Singh, S. Surbir Singh, S. Ajmeet Singh Gardesi, S. Rajwant Singh and Afghan Sikh leaders at Delhi including S. Guljeet Singh, Chhaibal Singh, S. Partap Singh, S. Ira Singh, S. Manohar Singh and S. Harbhajan Singh were present.
