SGPC to send panel to Lakhimpur Kheri to enquire into Sunday incident; Bibi Jagir Kaur condemns Khattar’s statement

Amritsar, October 4, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Bibi Jagir Kaur has decided to send a panel to Lakhimpur Kheri which will enquire into the incident of deaths of farmers and submit a report to Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

Speaking on the occasion, Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “A son of a BJP minister killed several farmers and injured many who were protesting peacefully at Tikunia village in Lakhimpur Kheri, which is a very tragic incident. A panel is being sent by the SGPC to Uttar Pradesh to enquire into the matter and get the details of the case from the families of the victims. The panel will submit its report to Sri Akal Takht Sahib.”

Bibi Jagir Kaur informed the panel includes SGPC’s executive committee members S. Ajmer Singh Khera and S. Amrik Singh Shahpur, members Kulwant Singh Mannan, Bhai Gurcharan Singh Grewal, S. Jarnail Singh Dogranwala, S. Sukhmeet Singh Qadian, S. Harbhajan Singh Cheema and SGPC assistant secretary S. Nirvail Singh.

SGPC President said that a Union minister of state of India and his son are responsible for this heinous act and the minister should be sacked immediately.

Statement made by Haryana chief minister regarding farmers is highly deplorable: Bibi Jagir Kaur

Meanwhile, Bibi Jagir Kaur while talking about a video of the Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar going viral on social media said that such a statement does not suit the people holding constitutional positions.

“The farmers are the annadata of the country who have made a great contribution in the progress. If the Haryana chief minister could not sympathize with the farmers then he should not even work to disturb the peace and harmony of the country by making such inflammatory statements.

The farmers in Haryana had already been subjected to many atrocities at the behest of the government. In such a scenario, such a statement by the Chief Minister would only worsen the situation”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.

SGPC President also appealed to the Prime Minister of the country to give up his stubborn attitude and accept the rightful demands of the protesting farmers immediately.

Meanwhile, Bibi Jagir Kaur while talking about the mercy plea of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana said that the SGPC has written a letter to the Home Minister of India for time to meet him.

“Soon, after confirmation of dates, a delegation of the SGPC would meet the Home Minister and ask him to settle the case of mercy plea of Bhai Rajoana. SGPC had appealed to the President of India to commute the sentence of Bhai Rajoana, which was being deliberately delayed. Even the Supreme Court has directed the government to take a decision on Bhai Rajoana’s case soon”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.
