Addressing a press conference, SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur said that one hundred years have passed since the establishment of the SGPC, the religious representative body of the Sikh community.

Bibi Jagir Kaur said that under the ‘Ghar Ghar Andar Dharamsaal’ (sacred shrine within every home) campaign launched by the SGPC’s Dharam Prachar Committee, about 150 pracharaks teams of SGPC are continuously working, which is getting overwhelming response from the Sangat (community).

“Keeping in view the demand of the Sangat, the Sikh Missionary Colleges will also be made allies in this campaign so that more groups of pracharaks can preach the Sikh faith to the Sangat”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.

The SGPC President said that under this campaign the Sangat are being imparted knowledge on Gurbani Santhia (lessons on reciting Gurbani accurately), Sikh Rehat Maryada (code of conduct), similarly, the teams are reaching out from house to house and encouraging the youth to keep their hair and take Amrit. So far, around 50,000 persons have got initiated (took Amrit).

Bibi Jagir Kaur informed that keeping in view the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Dharam Prachar Committee is organising large scale Amrit Sanchar campaign in which the Jathedar of Takht Sahibs and Granthi Singhs will serve as Panj Piaras and initiate (give Amrit) the Sangat.

Bibi Jagir Kaur informed that under the Amrit Sanchar campaign, Gurmat Samagam would be held at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib on November 3 and on the same day, Amrit Sanchar will be held at Sri Akal Takht Sahib, in which, the Granthi Singhs will serve as Panj Piaras. Those Sikhs who will take Amrit at Sri Akal Takht Sahib will later join the congregation at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib.
