SGPC to manage airfare for Sikhs coming to India from Afghanistan

Amritsar, June 21, 2022 (Yes Punjab News)
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate S. Harjinder Singh while announcing support for the Afghan Sikhs said on Tuesday that due to the present situation, the air tickets of those Sikhs who want to come to India from Afghanistan will be managed by the SGPC.

S. Harjinder Singh also appealed to the Government of India to immediately give permission to safely bring the Sikhs living in Afghanistan to India, so that they can come out of the atmosphere of fear. He said that the Sikhs living in Afghanistan do not need to be frightened and for those, who could not afford the transportation expense to come to India, the Sikh body SGPC will extend all possible support.

SGPC President said yesterday he had spoken to Afghan Sikhs in Delhi, who apprised him about the problems faced by the Sikhs living in Afghanistan.

“The entire Sikh Qaum (community), including the Afghan Sikhs living in India, is concerned about the fear and insecurity among Sikhs in Afghanistan. The entire Quam sympathizes with the Sikhs of Afghanistan in this time of crisis and the Sikh body SGPC also feels their pain”, said S. Harjinder Singh.

S. Harjinder Singh said that although it is very difficult for Sikhs to leave their settled businesses and dear homes in Afghanistan, the Sikhs living there are helpless in the face of dire circumstances.

“Amid this situation, the Government of India should make serious efforts for the protection of every Sikh in Afghanistan and grant them citizenship after bringing them to India”, said S. Harjinder Singh.
