SGPC to facilitate Haryana pilgrims’ visit to Pakistan, Bibi Jagir Kaur asks them to submit passports

Amritsar, March 27, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has made a big announcement for the pilgrims from Haryana who wish to visit holy shrines in Pakistan.

Sikh pilgrims from Haryana will now be able to deposit their passports at the SGPC’s Haryana sub-office in Kurukshetra to join the Pakistan-bound jatha, from where further visa processing will take place.

SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said that four jathas are sent every year to the holy shrines of Pakistan, in which visa process is facilitated for the pilgrims from Punjab at the SGPC headquarters in Amritsar, Punjab.

“But due to the separate quota for pilgrims from Haryana, they had to complete the visa process themselves. The SGPC would now provide facilities to the sangat of Haryana as well as the pilgrims of Punjab. The SGPC will help the pilgrims from Haryana who want to go to Pakistan through the jatha to get their visas”, said SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur.

SGPC president said that a center has been set up at the SGPC’s sub-office at Gurdwara Patshahi Chhevin, Thanesar in Kurukshetra for this purpose.

She said that the next step would be taken by the SGPC after obtaining passports from the pilgrims from Haryana who wish to visit the shrines of Pakistan.

Bibi Jagir Kaur appealed to the Haryana sangat to submit their passports at the SGPC’s sub-office in Kurukshetra for the jathas going on the occasion of Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s martyrdom and Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s death anniversary in June 2021.

It may be recalled that every year on the occasion of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s Prakash Purab, Khalsa Sajna Diwas (Baisakhi), Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s Shaheedi Purab and Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s death anniversary, the SGPC jathas visits the shrines of Pakistan.
