Earlier, the trials were conducted for the selection of players for the girls’ sports academy of the SGPC at Punjab Armed Police (PAP) ground in Jalandhar on March 13 and 14, last month, which were inaugurated by the SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur.

In this regard, SGPC assistant secretary sports S. Tejinder Singh Padda said, “The children had participated in the trials held on March 13 and 14, in which, there was great enthusiasm among the girls who had come for the trials for hockey, basketball and athletics disciplines.

But due to ongoing exams in schools, most of the players could not take part in the trials. The players who could not attend the trials at that time, for them, trials are being conducted again on April 15 and 16, 2021 at GNDU Ground in Amritsar as per the orders of SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur.”

S. Tejinder Singh said the aspiring children should arrive at the venue at 8:00 am with two photographs, a certificate of qualification and proof of date of birth for the trial.

S. Tejinder Singh said that the SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur was taking the services of national and international players and experts in various sports as advisors for the girls’ academy.

He said while the SGPC conducts Khalsa games in the schools and colleges every year, a separate Directorate of Sports for Girls has been set up and an academy is being opened so that the talented girls can excel in the field of sports.

The SGPC would provide all facilities for the girls’ sports academy and sports training would be given by the best coaches.
