Amritsar, April 26, 2022 (Yes Punjab News)
In the executive committee (EC) meeting of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) presided over by SGPC President Advocate S. Harjinder Singh on Tuesday, the decision has been taken to install scanner machines to scan unwanted objects at all main entrances of Sachkhand Sri Darbar Sahib, to strengthen the security at the central Sikh shrine. SGPC’s EC gave approval to other important decisions as well.

Giving information about the EC decisions, SGPC President Advocate S. Harjinder Singh said that millions of pilgrims from all across the country and world visit to pay obeisance at Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib and to strengthen the security and making the arrangements more efficient at this shrine, “scanner machines will be installed at all main entrances”.

He said that due to the huge influx of Sangat (pilgrims) at Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib, there is a big need for new sarais (inns).

“SGPC’s EC has decided to buy land outside the jurisdiction of Amritsar Municipal Corporation, especially on GT Road. A sub-committee has been formed for this task, which will search for the land and submit its report. At this land to be purchased on the outskirts of Amritsar on GT Road, big sarais will be developed, from where the Sangat will be brought to Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib in special vehicles. Along with a large parking lot, some offices of the SGPC will also be shifted to this place”, said S. Harjinder Singh.

SGPC President said for enhancing performance of SGPC’s sports academies in future and preparing Sabat Soorat (Sikhs with unshorn hair) players, a sub-committee has been formed. “Presently, SGPC is running hockey and kabaddi academies, and these will be expanded further”, he said.

He said in the upcoming May month, an active Dharam Prachar Lehar (religious propagation campaign) would be launched across the country including Punjab. “Under this campaign, the pracharaks (preachers) will organise Amrit Sanchar (initiation ceremony) and Gurmat Samagams (religious congregations) in SGPC’s 13 Sikh Missions across the country and all constituencies in Punjab”, said S. Harjinder Singh.

He added the EC has also given approval to voluntary service of installing solar power systems for the AC Plant at Gurdwara Dukhniwaran Sahib, Patiala, by Gur Shabd Prachar Sabha.

Meanwhile, SGPC President appealed to the Government of India to provide relaxation in conditions for pilgrims to visit Gurdwara Sri Darbar Sahib, Sri Kartarpur Sahib, so that maximum pilgrims can pay obeisance at the holy shrine of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
