Amritsar, October 18, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has initiated the process to implement the decision taken by its executive committee (EC) to print the holy saroops (scriptures) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib in different countries abroad.

A high-level delegation of the SGPC has arrived in Canada, which is holding meetings with the management committees of various local Gurdwaras. The SGPC delegation that arrived in Canada includes senior vice-president S. Surjit Singh Bhitewad, SGPC EC member S. Mithu Singh Kahnke, member Bhai Ram Singh and assistant secretary S. Balwinder Singh Kahlwan.

It is notable that SGPC EC chaired by SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur had decided on August 23, 2021, to print Sri Guru Granth Sahib in Canada, United States of America, Australia, etc. This decision was taken in view of the huge demand for Sri Guru Granth Sahib from the Sangat (community) living abroad.

Bibi Jagir Kaur had announced that Sri Guru Granth Sahib would be printed by the SGPC as per the Maryada (code of conduct) by setting up printing presses in different countries and the holy scriptures would be delivered to the adjoining countries by road.

The leader of the delegation to Canada, S. Surjit Singh Bhitewad shared the information on phone that in addition to the management committees of Gurdwaras in British Columbia (BC), Canada, discussions have been held with the Sangat and management committees of Gurdwaras in Calgary too.

According to S. Bhitewad, the delegation has so far held discussions with the management committees of Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Surrey; Gurdwara Dasmesh Culture Society, Calgary; Gurdwara Kalgidhar Sahib, Abbotsford; Gurdwara Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, Abbotsford and the meetings are continuing.

“A good response has been received from all management committees. The necessary facilities and environment are required for printing the holy saroops as per the Maryada and this is being discussed from all aspects to ensure adherence to the Maryada.

The opinion of the Gurdwara Sahib managements and Sangat of various Gurdwara Sahibs in Canada is being given special importance and a complete report in this regard would be submitted to the SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur”, said S. Surjit Singh Bhitewad.
