Amritsar, May 17, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) got prepared a special bus for setting up blood donation camps in villages, towns and cities.

The HDFC bank has provided state-of-the-art bus for setting up this mobile service for blood donation camps under the supervision of Sri Guru Ramdas Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (Sri Guru Ramdas Medical College), Amritsar under the management of SGPC.

The bus was flagged-off by SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur in the presence of officials of SGPC and Sri Guru Ramdas Medical College.

Speaking on the occasion Bibi Jagir Kaur said that under the management of SGPC, the SGRIMSR is providing better health services to the people.

She said that while the SGPC has dedicated Sri Guru Ramdas Charitable Hospital for the Covid-19 patients, the medical services are being provided to people by setting up Covid Care Centres at various places in Punjab.

“In such cases the need of blood often remains for the patients at the healthcare institutions, for which, a blood bank has been set up at Sri Guru Ramdas Medical College of the SGPC. Many blood donors are committed to the welfare of humanity, but due to Covid-19 pandemic, it is difficult for people to come to the hospital and donate blood.

Therefore, the SGPC got prepared bus for setting up blood donation camps at various places, which has been served by HDFC”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.

She said that two people would be able to donate blood at a time in this bus. She hoped that this would provide relief to the needy from blood shortage.

Bibi Jagir Kaur also said that the Covid Care Centres set up by the SGPC at various places are proving to be beneficial for the people. She said that so far about 150 Covid-19 patients have been cured at centre at Gurdwara Manji Sahib, Alamgir Ludhiana. Bibi Jagir Kaur informed that four more Covid Care Centres would be set up at Jalandhar, Sangrur, Ropar and Ferozepur districts in the coming days.

SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said that after recording a positive response and on the demand of the sangat, the Sikh body is coming up with four more Covid Care Centres in Punjab.

Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “For the convenience of the Covid-19 patients, four more care centres would be started at Adampur in Jalandhar, at Gurdwara Nankeana Sahib in Sangrur, at Gurdwara Sahib in Wajidpur, Ferozepur and at Gurdwara Bhattha Sahib in Roopnagar. Services would be provided to the sangat as being rendered at earlier started three centres.”

Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “As there is a shortage of doctors and other support staff, so I appeal to the Indian Medical Council (IMA) to support SGPC by providing services of their doctors and then the Sikh body would be in position to open such centres in all the district of Punjab.”
