SGPC launches 2nd phase of Free Covid Vaccination Camp at Harmandar Sahib

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) launched the second phase of free Covid Vaccine Camp at the Information Center of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib here on Tuesday, which was jointly inaugurated by SGPC senior vice-president Surjit Singh Bhitewad, general secretary Bhagwant Singh Sialka and chief secretary Harjinder Singh Dhami.

During the first phase of free Covid vaccine camp, more than 1,000 people were administered first doses of COVID-19 vaccines here last month.

Speaking on the occasion of the inauguration of second phase of the camp, SGPC senior-vice president Surjit Singh Bhitewad said, “SGPC has always been committed to the welfare of the people and has played a leading role even during the Covid-19 pandemic. While the langars (community kitchen) and treatment facilities were provided to the people to deal with this contagious disease, free vaccines are also arranged to protect people from COVID-19.”

He said under the leadership of SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur, free Covid vaccine camps were set up at various places under which this is the second camp at Sri Harmandar Sahib.

SGPC general secretary Bhagwant Singh Sialka said, “When the governments had also raised their hands during the Covid-19 pandemic, the SGPC, realizing its duty, came forward for public service and became a hope for the people.”

Giving information about the free Covid vaccine camps of the SGPC, chief secretary Harjinder Singh Dhami said, “SGPC first started free Covid care centres to help the people during the Covid-19 pandemic and then started free vaccination camps for the needy. The first camp was set up at Sri Darbar Sahib. Under its expansion, free corona vaccination camps were organized at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Talwandi Sabho, Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Sri Anandpur Sahib as well as at Delhi and Mumbai.”

Harjinder Singh Dhami said that now the camp for the second dose of Covid vaccine has been started at the Information Center of Sri Harmandar Sahib which would continue for a few days. “People who got the first dose during the first phase camp will get the second dose. Also, people who are willing to take the first dose can also visit this camp and get vaccinated”, said SGPC chief secretary Harjinder Singh Dhami.

On this occasion, SGPC senior vice-president Surjit Singh Bhitewad, general secretary Bhagwant Singh Sialka, chief secretary Harjinder Singh Dhami, additional secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhurakohna, assistant secretaries Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, Tejinder Singh Padda, Nirvail Singh, manager of Sri Darbar Sahib Gurinder Singh Mathrewal, superintendent Malkit Singh Beharwal, Jaswinder Singh Jassi information officer, additional manager Iqbal Singh Mukhi, Paramjit Singh, Dr Harjot Singh and others were present.
