SGPC inaugurates 6th Covid Care Centre at Guru Nanak College Budhlada

A sixth Covid Care Centre was set up at Guru Nanak College, Budhlada in Mansa district on Saturday, as part of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee’s (SGPC) efforts to help the people amid Covid-19 pandemic.

The 25-bed centre was jointly inaugurated by SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president S. Sukhbir Singh.

The medical staff of Sri Guru Ramdas Institute of Health Sciences and Research, Amritsar will be present at this Covid care centre for 24 hours a day to treat the Covid-19 patients.

Inaugurating the centre at Budhlada, SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “SGPC has always been ready to serve humanity while following on the principles and path given by the Sikh Gurus. In view of the present situation, these medical services have been started by the SGPC for the convenience of the people, under which five Covid Care Centres have already been set up in different districts and today the sixth centre has been set up at Guru Nanak College, Budhlada.”

“Arrangement of oxygen has been made for Covid-19 patients through the concentrators and free medicines and langar will also be provided to patients and their caretakers. SGPC has always stood by humanity and would always fulfill its duty. I appeal to the people to visit these centers as per their need and avail the services”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.

Speaking on the occasion, SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal said, “Whenever any calamity has been faced by humanity, the SGPC has always been ready to serve. Now when the whole world is terrified of the Covid-19, the SGPC has once again taken up the cause of humanity in the line of duty. Due to the service being rendered by the SGPC, the Indian Medical Association has also sent a letter appreciating the work being done by SGPC during Covid-19 pandemic.”

Addressing the governments, Sukhbir Singh Badal said that they should understand the plight of the people and make necessary arrangements immediately.

On this occasion, SGPC senior vice-president Surjit Singh Bhitewad, junior vice-president Baba Buta Singh, former MLA Jagdeep Singh Nakai, SGPC member Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta, Bhai Amarjit Singh Chawla, Bibi Jasbir Kaur Datewas, additional secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhurakohna, Sukhminder Singh, Dr AP Singh dean of Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences, Principal Kuldeep Singh, S. Ajaib Singh manager and others were present.
