SGPC hands over task for installation of Solar System for Langar at Harmandir Sahib to United Sikh Mission USA

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has decided to provide the service of installing the solar system for Guru Ram Das Ji’s langar at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib to United Sikh Mission USA. All expenses incurred in this regard will be borne by the United Sikh Mission.

Speaking after the meeting of the interim committee of the SGPC, president Bibi Jagir Kaur said that in the last meeting (on January 5, 2021), it was decided to install solar system in gurdwaras and for this, Rashpal Singh Dhindsa from the United Sikh Mission, USA has offered his services.

“This has been approved by the interim committee and at the same time it has been decided to hand over the service of installing steam system for langar to Baba Baljinder Singh from Rara Sahib”, said the SGPC president.

About the other decisions taken in the meeting, Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the main samagam (event) with regards to the centenary of Saka Sri Nankana Sahib would be held at Godharpur in Gurdaspur.

“This Gurmat Samagam to be held from February 19 to 21 will be attended by great personalities of the Sikh panth (community). The family of Shaheed Bhai Lachhman Singh who got martyred during Saka Nankana Sahib had settled at Godharpur in whose memory a Gurdwara Sahib is well-seated there.

To mark the centenary of Saka Sri Nankana Sahib, a portrait of Shaheed Bhai Lachhman Singh would be installed in the Central Sikh Museum, Sri Harmandir Sahib on February 15. At the same time, a jatha (group) of the SGPC would be sent for the functions to be held in Pakistan”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.

Regarding the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ninth Sikh Guru, the SGPC president said that apart from grand samagams, Nagar Kirtan would also be special. A Nagar Kirtan would be decorated and carried out from Guru’s birthplace Gurdwara Guru Ke Mahal, Sri Amritsar Sahib to Delhi.

Regarding other decisions, Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “In the case of convicted Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana, an appeal has been made to the Government of India for an early decision. The government should not make any delay in the case of Bhai Rajoana. The Supreme Court has also issued directions to the government in this regard.

The case of Bhai Rajoana is being fought continuously by the SGPC. An amount of Rs 11 lakh is being sent by the SGPC for each hearing. The SGPC is committed to help in Bhai Rajoana’s case.”

Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “A case has been sent to the Government of India for direct management under Section-85, of many Gurdwaras that comes under Section-87 having an annual income of more than Rs 35 lakh, but the government has not issued the notification yet.

The government should take this matter seriously and issue a notification to shift these gurdwaras under Section-85 of the Sikh Gurdwaras Act. The Ministry of Home Affairs would be contacted in this regard.”

SGPC will assist in opening a technical center for Sikligar children at Indore, Madhya Pradesh

SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur also informed, “An amount of Rs 10 lakh would be provided for the technical center being opened at Indore in Madhya Pradesh for imparting vocational training to the children of Sikligar Sikhs. A Gurmat Kendra (center for teaching Gurmat) would also be opened at Indore.”

The interim-committee of the SGPC has also decided to display the portrait of Sant Giani Mohan Singh Bhinderkalan in the Central Sikh Museum.

Arrested farmers should be released by canceling FIRs against them: Bibi Jagir Kaur

Talking about the farmers arrested in Delhi, Bibi Jagir Kaur demanded cancellation of the First Information Reports (FIRs) registered against the farmers on January 26 during the Kisan Sangharsh (farmers’ protest) and said, “It is unfortunate that the Central government is not listening to the farmers and is constantly suppressing them. The FIRs registered on January 26 should be canceled and the arrested farmers should also be released immediately.”

Condemns police torture on activist Nodeep Kaur

Condemning the police torture on young girl, an activist Nodeep Kaur, Bibi Jagir Kaur demanded justice for her. Bibi Jagir Kaur also expressed her condolences to Navreet Singh and other farmers who were martyred in Delhi and died during the struggle.

She said that a condolence resolution has also been passed on the demise of Sikh preacher Giani Amarjit Singh Gulshan.

In the meeting, senior vice-president S. Surjit Singh Bhittewad, junior vice-president Baba Buta Singh, general secretary adv S. Bhagwant Singh Sialka, chief secretary adv S. Harjinder Singh, interim member Baba Charanjit Singh Jassowal, and others were also present.
