SGPC establishes 4th Covid Care Centre at Ferozepur, more to come up, says Jagir Kaur

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) is making big efforts for the treatment of Covid-19 patients, under which, the Sikh body started its fourth Covid Care Centre in Firozepur district on Thursday.

The Covid care centre was jointly inaugurated by SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal at Sahibzada Ajit Singh Public School near Gurdwara Jamni Sahib, Bajidpur in Firozepur, with 25-bed oxygen concentrators’ facility.

SGPC is already providing free healthcare facilities to needy Covid-19 patients at its three Covid care centres at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Alamgir (Ludhiana), Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Talwandi Sabho (Bathinda) and Bholath (Kapurthala).

On this occasion, SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal appreciated the efforts being made by SGPC for the treatment of Covid-19 patients.

“SGPC is doing commendable humanitarian work. At a time when the governments are failing to come out of the Covid-19 crisis, the role of the SGPC is very satisfactory”, said Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Speaking on the occasion, SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said that SGPC always strives to help the needy.

“At present due to Covid-19 pandemic people are facing big problems and difficulties in getting treatment and keeping this in view the SGPC is making all out efforts for the convenience of the sangat and needy patients. In these centres, oxygen is being provided to the Covid-19 patients through concentrators and they are being treated by the specialist doctors”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.

“This centre at Bajidpur would be a great help to the people of the area. This will help people avoid inconvenience and get the health services they need”, said the SGPC president.

Disclosing about opening more such centres, Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “Similar centres are being set up at Sangrur, Ropar, Patiala and Adampur (Jalandhar). Arrangements would be made at other places as well as per the requirement. A large number of patients admitted in the existing centres have recovered and gone to their home.”

On this occasion the SGPC senior vice-president Surjit Singh Bhitewad, senior SAD leader Janmeja Singh Sekhon, SGPC executive committee member Darshan Singh Sherkhan, members Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta, Gurmeet Singh Booh, Jathedar Pritam Singh Malsian, Satpal Singh Talwandi, Jathedar Balwinder Singh Bhambalanda, Darshan Singh Brar, SAD leader Kanwaljit Singh Rozy Barkandi, Joginder Singh Jindu, Wardev Singh Mann, OSD to SGPC president Dr Sukhbir Singh, Dr AP Singh dean of Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences and others were present.
