SGPC dispatches 250 holy saroops in special bus to Gujrat & Rajasthan

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) today dispatched 250 holy saroops (scriptures) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib after ardas (prayer) in a special bus following the demands from the Gurdwara Committees of Gujarat and Rajasthan states. Of these 250 holy saroops, 100 will be handed over to the Gujarat Sikh Foundation, Ahmedabad and its different nearby Gurdwara Sahibs, 50 to Gurdwara Sahibs of Vadodara and 100 to Gurdwara Sahibs of Rajasthan state.

It is notable that under the leadership of SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur, the SGPC executive committee had on August 23, taken a decision to dispatch holy saroops to different states in the country as per the demands received from there.

SGPC senior-vice president S. Surjit Singh Bhitewad while dispatching the holy saroops as per the demands received from different states said the SGPC has taken a decision to deliver the holy saroops with Maryada (conduct) by itself.

“Recently, the representatives of Gujarat Sikh Foundation after meeting SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur had raised a demand for 100 holy saroops. Also, the Gurdwara Committees of Rajasthan had also raised the demand for holy saroops. The holy saroops have been dispatched on the basis of the reports of pracharaks (preachers) of SGPC’s Dharam Prachar Committee as per the demands received.”

He said in Ahmedabad, the Gujarat Sikh Foundation in support of the Sangat (community) is organising events in different Gurdwara Sahibs in respect of Sri Guru Granth Sahib on September 4 and 5, which will be attended by SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur and other prominent personalities.

“In these events, different Gurdwara Committees of Gujarat will be handed over the holy saroops as per Maryada. Similarly, in Rajasthan, the holy saroops will be handed over as per Maryada to different Gurdwara Committees under the supervision of the pracharaks of Dharam Prachar Committee and the Management Committee of Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Sahib, Buddha Jauhar, Sri Ganganagar”, said S. Surjit Singh Bhitewad.

On the occasion of the departure of the special bus with holy saroops, SGPC assistant secretary S. Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, S. Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, S. Gurdial Singh, Sri Darbar Sahib manager S. Gurinder Singh Mathrewal, superintendent S. Malkit Singh Beharwal, in-charge S. Nirmal Singh, manager of Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Sahib S. Harpreet Singh and others were present.
