SGPC demands Passports from Pilgrims for going to Pakistan on Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s martyrdom Anniversary

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has demanded passports from the pilgrims for the jatha to be sent to the holy shrines in Pakistan on the occasion of the martyrdom of the fifth Guru, Guru Arjan Dev Ji and the death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

Both the jathas are scheduled to be sent to Pakistan in June 2021 and the process has been started as per the directions of SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur.

In a statement issued from the SGPC office, SGPC chief secretary Adv Harjinder Singh Dhami said, “On the occasion of the martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev Ji and the death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the pilgrims should submit their passports to the SGPC office at Amritsar till March 31, 2021.

The pilgrims wishing to join the jatha should submit their passports along with their identity card with the recommendation of the SGPC member from their concerned areas. A copy of ration card, Aadhaar card or voter card can be provided for the identity card.”

SGPC chief secretary Adv Dhami said that the pilgrims should submit their passports on time so that they could be sent for further process.

He added that the pilgrims should contact the Yatra Department of SGPC at 0183-2553957/58/59 for information.
