Second batch of flood relief material distributed among people: Harsimrat Badal

Chandigarh, August 30, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

Union food processing industries minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal today disclosed that the second batch of flood relief material was distributed in affected villages in Sultanpur Lodhi and Shahkot today by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) workers and volunteers.

In a statement here, the union minister thanked food processing companies for donating wholeheartedly to this cause. She said the relief material was received at Shahkot today by former minister Bibi Upinderjit Kaur and Bachittar Singh Kohar.

Mrs Badal said earlier on August 23 truckloads of relief including ready to eat snacks, biscuits and beverages had been distributed among the flood affected people.

She said today’s relief which included mosquito repellents and soap products would further buttress the relief effort of social organizations as well as the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) which were providing ‘langar sewa’ at all flood affected places. She also thanked Akali workers for helping in provision of green fodder for milch animals wherever needed.

The union minister said she would continue to assist the flood hit. “There is danger of diseases spreading in the area. I have already talked to the union health ministry and it has assured to provide all medicines needed by the State government”.
