Reviewing the arrangements of the Paddy procurement for the Kharif Season 2021-22 in the district, the Deputy Commissioner directed all the district heads of the state procurements agencies to personally supervise the paddy procurement operations across the district beginning from October 1, so as to ensure prompt lifting of paddy as per their allotted share of procurement.

Ms. Kalia said that farmers in the district should not be put to any inconvenience for the sale of their produce in the mandis.

The Deputy Commissioner further said that the Sub Divisional Magistrates would be accountable for the smooth procurement operations in grain markets under their jurisdiction so that farmers do not face any sort of problem in selling their harvest. She also urged farmers to bring paddy within permissible limits of moisture so that they doesn’t face any issue to sell the same.

Meanwhile, the DC directed the DFSC to conduct checking in rice shellers to verify current stock of paddy lying with the mills as state government has already issued public notice for the millers desirous for custom milling, asking them to declare any stock of rice lying with their shellers.

She also stated that after this period if any paddy or rice stock was detected in mills; then, it would be assumed to be illegal stock kept for unauthorized resale during the forthcoming season. The rice millers must furnish their stock details to District Food & Supplies Controller, she added.
