SAD urges Speaker for probe in Ashu’s role in Grand Manor Homes CLU case, vendetta against DSP

Chandigarh, December 7, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today urged Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rana K P Singh to form a House Committee to probe the role of Food and Civil Supplies minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu in the Grand Manor Homes CLU case as well as vendetta unleashed by him against DSP Balwinder Singh Sekhon.

In a statement here, senior leaders Bikram Singh Majithia, Sharanjit Singh Dhillon and Manpreet Singh Ayali said it was shocking that Ashu had got a police officer who had been ordered to probe his role in the Grand Manor Homes CLU case by the former Local Government minister suspended.

Stating that this was a fit case of ‘ulta chor kotwal ko daante’, the SAD leaders said it was condemnable that the State DGP had ordered the suspension of the DSP who was in fact the victim in the case.

The leaders said this fact was proved in a video which was made public in the Vidhan Sabha in which Ashu threatened the DSP with dire consequences. “We feel in such a situation the State DGP should have stood with his officer instead of succumbing to pressure from Bharat Bhushan Ashu”, the leaders added.

Stating that the case was also fit for suo moto action by the High court since the Food and Civil Supplies minister had also challenged the authority of the court, the SAD leaders said “a wrong precedent has been set by taking action against a police officer probing a Minister. The SAD will do its best to ensure justice is done in the case and will even assist the police officer in his quest for justice if he so requires it”.

Giving details of the case, Mr Bikram Majithia said it was very much clear that two independent legislators from Ludhiana had ganged up with Bharat Ashu and were indulging in corrupt practices and even brow beating and threatening law enforcement agencies.

“Ashu is a known habitual offender and was responsible for attacking and striking against the religious symbols of a Gursikh during the Dakha bye elections”. He said as per the facts of Grand Manor Homes case, an inquiry was ordered into the CLU given to the promoters by then Local Government Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu in July 2018.

He said as per the case the CLU was forged and passed in the name of the applicant two days before he registered the property in his name. “Also the CLU was given when approval of Plan 98-C of the Ludhiana municipal corporation had been kept in abeyance by the minister”.

Mr Majithia said following this when DSP Balwinder Sekhon started probing the entire matter Ashu rang him up on his telephone and told him to lay off and threatened him with dire consequences. “This video is in public domain and the Congress minister has never denied that he did not make the threatening call”.

Stating that this was a larger case involving land mafia illegalities in which Ashu had also been named; Mr Majithia said chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh should ensure the police officer was not persecuted at the behest of Ashu.

“Such affirmative action is necessary to ensure anarchy does not set in completely in the State”, he said adding “the suspensions orders of the DSP should be withdrawn and a detailed inquiry should be conducted in the matter to arrive at the truth to punish the mafia elements.
