SAD to take up all pending issues of punjab once SAD-BSP alliance govt is formed: Sukhbir Badal

Patiala, December 9, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal today said the party would take up all pending issues of Punjab for resolution once it was elected to power in 2022.

The SAD President, who was talking to newsmen after addressing public meetings in the Patiala (Rural) constituency in favour of party candidate Jaspal Singh Bittu Chatha and in Nabha in favour of Kabir Das, said the SAD-BSP alliance was committed to seeking redressal of all grievances of Punjab, including restoration of Chandigarh to the State. “We will take up this as well as the issue of left-over Punjabi speaking areas once we form the government in 2022”.

Mr Badal said similarly the SAD had a consistent stand on the Satluj Yamuna Link (SYL) canal. “We will not allow reconstruction of the SYL canal unlike the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which stands for handing over Punjab River waters to Haryana and Delhi”.

Stating that people’s aspirations could be best addressed by a regional party, Mr Badal said “the SAD has a 100-year-old history of fighting for the rights of farmers and down trodden sections of society. We also have a track record of speedy and effective development besides being responsible for innovative schemes like ensuring free power to farmers for agricultural operations besides the ‘shagun’ scheme, ‘aata daal scheme’ and old age pension scheme. Now we have committed to the people of Punjab that we will give Rs 2,000 per month to women heads of families of weaker sections of society under the Mata Khivi yojna”.

He said while the SAD had released its 13-point programme for the people of Punjab after much thought, AAP was copying it mindlessly. “Now AAP Convener Arvind Kejriwal has promised Rs 1,000 per month to all women in the State without taking into consideration whether the richest sections of society need this relief”. Asserting that Kejriwal was trying to befool Punjabis in the same manner as done by Capt Amarinder Singh earlier, he asked Kejriwal to tell why he had not implemented any of the promises he was making in Punjab in Delhi.

Speaking at Nabha, Mr Badal said once the SAD-BSP alliance government was formed a criminal case would be registered against Sadhu Singh Dharamsot for committing a crime against humanity by embezzling crores of rupees meant for distribution to scheduled caste students under the SC scholarship scheme. “Dharamsot has been accused of embezzling Rs 69 crore by the Additional chief secretary but the ambit of this scheme is even larger than this. All those responsible for this crime will be booked and punished”, he added.

Meanwhile, Youth Akali Dal (YAD) and Students Organization of India (SPO) workers gave an enthusiastic welcome to the party president when he reached Patiala and Nabha. The youth activists escorted the SAD President on motorcycles holding ‘kesari’ flags. Various people from Congress and AAP also joined Shiromani Akali Dal during the events.

Others present on the occasion included Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra, Surjit Singh Rakhra, NK Sharma, Hari Singh Preet and Gurpreet Singh Raju Khanna. Several leaders from the Congress and AAP joined the SAD on the occasion.
