Chandigarh, May 9, 2022 (Yes Punjab News)
Shiromani Akali Dal today submitted memorandums at district headquarters to Deputy Commissioners in name of Governor Punjab on burning issues of the state and urged the Governor to issue suitable directions to the state government to immediately take steps for resolving them.

Local District leadership lead the delegations in their respective districts.

In a statement issued here today, senior SAD leader Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that we have apprised Governor about issue of power crisis and how every section of society including farmers, Industrialist, shopkeepers, traders and domestic consumers were facing this crisis with power cuts ranging from 10 to 18 hours being imposed by power utility every day.

He said that earlier Congress government had failed to take steps to increase power generation even by a single unit and now situation in AAP Government was also same. He said that AAP Government has even failed to maintain power supply and farmers are protesting for issuing a phase wise schedule for paddy transplantation without even consulting farmers.

They are fearing that government will not be able to supply adequate power required in paddy season. He said that party had urged Governor to direct state government to immediately sort out power crisis by making suitable arrangement for power supply for paddy season as well as for other sections of society including domestic consumers and Industrialists.

Akali leader also disclosed that party as apprised the Governor about low yield of wheat due to hot weather conditions and huge loss of farmers. He said that party had demanded that farmers should be compensated Rs. 500 per quintal on this account.

He further said that party had apprised the Governor about deteriorating law and order situation of the state. He said that murders, robberies and loot have become order of the day and government seems is helpless to control the situation. Apart from this Drones are dropping narcotics in state but instead of performing its responsibilities, government is busy in illegal and unconstitutional political vendetta against its political opponent. Party also urged the Governor to direct state government to slash its VAT on petroleum products as already prices of Petrol, Diesel and domestic gas has hit consumers too hard.

Speaking about illegal and unconstitutional knowledge sharing agreement between Punjab and Delhi Government, Dr. Cheema said that it was shocking that state government has surrendered whole administration to Delhi CM and AAP Convener Arvind Kejriwal which has shocked Punjabis. He said that it is first time in the history when an elected government has surrendered its rights to CM of other state. He said that files of different departments are being sent to Delhi and CM and even Cabinet Ministers have done away with oath taken to keep official secrets as per Constitution. Party has urged Governor to immediately cancel the said pact and strictly warn state government to not to repeat this blunder in future.

Dr Cheema said that with today’s memorandums party had given a warning to state government and if it fails to take concrete steps for resolving burning issues being faced by people, the party will formulate strategy against the government to safeguards interests of the people.
