SAD Sanyukt to launch agitation against allotment of separate land for Haryana Assembly in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, November 26, 2022 (Yes Punjab News)
An important meeting of the senior leaders of the Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) chaired by party president and former Union Minister, S. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa was held at the party’s head office party today.

During the meeting, the party unanimously passed a resolution to strongly oppose the Haryana government’s demand to allot separate land for the Haryana Vidhan Sabha in Chandigarh.

It was decided that soon, a delegation of senior party leaders will meet Union Home Minister, Sh. Amit Shah and hand over a demand letter on this issue.

The party said that Chandigarh, which was settled after depopulating the villages of Punjab, has the full right of Punjab and the party has been fighting for the resolution of the rightful issues of Punjab including Chandigarh for a long time.

“Will not allow Haryana to build a separate Vidhan Sabha on the land of Chandigarh at any cost. Haryana’s demand is unreasonable and a betrayal to the people of Punjab. We are ready to make every possible sacrifice to raise our voices against Haryana’s move,” said S. Parminder Singh Dhindsa. In the meeting, concern was also expressed about the silence of the Aam Aadmi Party government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on this issue.

Apart from this, during the meeting, the issue of immediate release of the Bandi Singhs who have completed their sentences in jails was also discussed. Apart from this, the planning made by S. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa for the election of the president of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee held on November 9 was also appreciated.

During the meeting, S. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa also thanked members of the Shiromani Committee who voted in favour of Bibi Jagir Kaur, who boldly had raised her voice against the ‘lifafa’ envelope culture in the election of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.
