Shiromani Akali Dal today accused “ Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi of going “plain berserk” in the face of repeated and humiliating rebuffs slaps to his vendetta tactics, and said that the CM’s self-contradictory utterances on sacrilege and Kotkapura and Behbal Kalaan firing incidents were” nothing more than the ravings of a frustrated man who knows that his game his up and his days numbered.”
“On the one hand, Channi tells brazen lies on sacrilege and firing incidents and on the other, he runs away to take shelter behind the “sub judice” excuse. If the case is sub judice, which it is, what has given Channi the right to pronounce a judgment? And if the “sub judice” logic doesn’t stop him from pronouncing such outrageous judgments on a case which, even according to him, is before the judiciary, then what stops him from sharing the evidence ? “, said senior Akali leader Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra, adding, “ Punjab today is in the hands of a mavericks who have run run completely amuck knowing that they cannot hold on to their present posts for more than a few weeks now.”
Reacting to CM Channi “highly irresponsible and politicized statements on a sensitive case ,”Prof Chandumakra said it is understandable why Mr Channi is behaving like “frustrated politicians who has had Chief Ministership thrust upon him.” The Akali leader said that Amaridner, Channi, Navjot Sidhu, Sukhjinder Randhawa and Sunil Jakhar had jointly dictated the investigation report of Kunwar Vjay Pratap Singh.
“These leaders were boasting day and night that this was a historic report and judiciary would send Akali leaders to jail. They couldn’t hide their excitement and joy when the report was submitted to the High Court. But when the honourable High Court not only called their bluff but also rubbished the report as “totally biased and baseless,” these leaders went into a hiding, unable to show their faces to the people. It took them weeks to overcome the shock.”
Prof Chandumajra said that saner people had then thought that “these Congressmen would be too ashamed after this public humiliation before the whole world to repeat the same blunder. But obviously, Congress and shamelessness are synonyms and obviously, these leaders have not learnt their lessonl. They still want to go ahead with politics of blind vendetta against Akali leaders.”
“ We welcome the challenge from these pygmies whose sole survival trick is the lies they tell so shamelessly that even their own families must be feeling embarrassed over these,” said the Akali leader.
