SAD-BJP holds protests, submits memos to DCs demanding restoration of all Blue Cards

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) – Bharatiya Janata Party today submitted memorandums to Deputy Commissioners across the State demanding immediate restoration of all Blue cards to the under-privileged sections of society besides an independent inquiry into the misappropriation of central ration by Congress leaders.

SAD and BJP leaders led by district presidents as well as MPs, former MPs, legislators, constituency representatives and senior leaders while submitting memorandums to the deputy commissioners for forwarding to State Governor VP Singh Badnore, said though the high court had taken notice of the issue after it was approached by the SAD workers from Sangrur and asked the Congress government not to discriminate against anyone, it would not relent till all Blue cards which had been deleted at the instance of Congress leaders were restored.

Joint SAD-BJP delegations took this following a decision taken by SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal and the party’s core committee besides the State BJP leadership and demanded an independent probe into the ration scam, saying a large part of the central relief sent to the State had been misappropriated.

Talking to newsmen in Amritsar, senior leader Gulzar Singh Ranike said instead of giving any relief to the poor and underprivileged sections the Congress government was denying ration to the poor under the ‘aata-daal’ scheme.

He said this scheme was initiated by S Parkash Singh Badal and everyone was getting ration without any discrimination before the Congress party and its leaders politicized this scheme.

Senior BJP leader Shwait Malik while taking on the Congress government, said the government should use the Rs 6,000 crore accumulated with it under the Disaster Management fund to give relief to needy people.

Senior leader Dr Daljit Singh Cheema while talking to newsmen in Ropar also demanded an independent probe by the CBI or the high court into the ration scam besides probes into the Rs 5,600 crore liquor scam and the Rs 4,000 crore seed scam. He also demanded that the Congress government prevail upon private sugar mills to pay Rs 383 crore due to sugarancane growers immediately.

Senior leaders including Maheshinder Singh Grewal and Sharanjit Singh Dhillon while speaking at Ludhiana said nothing was being done to give relief to domestic and industrial power consumers. They said even the assurance given to the industry to do away with fixed charges for two months have not been honoured.

They demanded that the municipal committees waive of property tax as well as rent on their shops for the period of the lockdown. They also demanded that compensation should be given to taxi and auto rickshaw owners and that road tax on their vehicles should be waived for a six month period.

Speaking on the issue at Mohali, party leader N K Sharma demanded a package for the industry and trade saying this sector should be allowed to retain its share of State GST. He also called for giving relief to the khet mazdoor and daily wagers saying the Congress government had only given relief of Rs 673 crore to liquor contractors and Rs 150 crore to the sand mafia.

In Amritsar Veer Singh Lopoke, Gulzar Singh Ranike and Tavlvir Singh Gill submitted the memorandum alongwith Mr Shwait Malik. In Gurdaspur Gurbachan Singh Babehalli, Lakhbir Singh Lodhinangal and Ravikaran Kahlon led the delegation. In Ferozepur Avtar Singh Zira led the delegation including Vardev Singh Mann and Joginder Jindu.

In Kapurthala Dr Upinderjjit Kaur and Bibi Jagir Kaur led the delegation. In Ludhiana Maheshinder Singh Grewal, Sharanjit Singh Dhillon and Manpreet Ayali accompanied Ranjit Singh Dhillon to submit the memorandum. In Moga Tirath Singh Malah led the delegation including Barjinder Singh Brar and Bhupinder Singh Sahoke.

In Jalandhar Gurpartap Singh Wadala led a team including Pawan Tinu and Baldev Singh Khaira and Sarabjit Singh Makkar. In Patiala Surjit Singh Rakhra led the delegation including Harpal Juneja. In Bathinda Sikander Singh Maluka was accompanied with Jagdeep Nikai, Sarup Singla, and Darshan Singh Kotfatta.

In Mansa Balwinder Singh Bhundur along with Dilraj Bhundur, Jagdeep Nakai and Dr Nishan Singh submitted the memorandum. In Muktsar Kanwarjit Singh Barkandi led a delegation and in Faridkot Parambans Singh Romana, Mantar Singh Brar and Suba Singh Badal led the party delegation. In Kulwant Singh Keetu was accompanied by Ballbir Singh Ghunas and Satnam Singh Rahi.

In Hoshiarpur Sohan Singh Thandal, Mohinder Kaur Josh, Arvinder Rasulpur, Jatinder Singh Lalli Bajwa and Sarabjot Sahbi accompanied Surinder Singh to submit the memorandum. In Ropar Dr Daljit Singh Cheema, Harmohan Sandhu and Paramjit Singh Makkar accompanied Paramjit Singh Lakhawal.

In Tarn Taran Virsa Singh Valtoha, Harmeet Sandhu, Iqbal Singh and Alwinder Pakhoke submitted the memorandum. In Nawansheher Dr Sukhwinder Sukhi, Jarnail Singh Wahid and Budh Singh Balaki led the delegation. In Mohali N K Sharma led the party delegation. In Fatehgarh Sahib Darbara Singh Guru, and Gurpreet Singh Rajukhanna led the delegation.
