SAD-BJP betrayed Punjab, Jakhar urges Speaker to initiate discussion on 31,000-cr loss to state

Chandigarh, March 7, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar has urged Punjab Vidhan Sabha speaker to initiate a discussion on the betrayal of erstwhile SAD-BJP government whereby the coalition government ‘deliberately destroyed state’s finances.’

Jakhar has shot off a letter to the Speaker detailing the issue and requested for a discussion.

FULL TEXT OF JAKHAR’S LETTER

Hon’ble Speaker Sir.

I wish to bring to your kind notice an issue of critical importance and of grave financial implications for Punjab and its people.

A document has come to light which reveals how Punjab’s economy has been deliberately destroyed. This GOI Non-Paper on 31,000 Crore Food Loan Account exposes how instead of accepting a proposal of Finance Ministry GOI in year 2017, which pegged the Punjab’s liabilities at 13,000 crore, the then Akali/BJP Govt connived to burden our state with a liability of 31,000 crore rupees.

Not only it’s bizarre and baffling but is clearly an act of criminal betrayal of the State.
I’m attaching a copy of this document for your perusal.

People of Punjab deserve fulsome disclosure on the issue to understand and expose those who played with their future.

I, therefore, request you to kindly initiate a discussion on this issue at your own volition and allow enough time to then Finance Minister and sitting MLA Parminder Singh Dhindsa sufficient time during the ongoing Vidhan Sabha Session to explain the series of deliberations detailing the nefarious role played by both SAD and BJP leaderships to mortgage Punjab’s financial independence.

I hope you will agree with me that People deserve to know the truth.

Thanking you.

Regards.
(Sunil Jakhar)
President, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC)
