The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today asked chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh to apologize to the Sikh community for hurting their sentiments by making provocative statements designed to sabotage the Kartarpur Corridor and come in the way of the ‘baksheesh’ of the Guru.
In a statement here, former ministers Bikram Singh Majithia and Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said “one cannot be part of a programme and also be against it.
The very fact that the chief minister is giving repeated statements stating the opening of the Kartarpur Corridor is not in the State’s interest even as he remains part of the function being organize to inaugurate it, is proof of the deep rooted conspiracy of the Congress party to sabotage the Corridor”.
Asking Capt Amarinder not to play with the sentiments of the Sikh community, Mr Majithia and Dr Cheema said the repeated change in stance of the chief minister on the opening of the Kartarpur Corridor smacked of politics.
“How can someone who welcomed the opening and even announced he would lead the first delegation to Pakistan when the Corridor was opened, is now talking repeatedly about the role of Pakistan ISI agency vis a vis the Corridor knowing full well our security agencies are equipped to deal with this threat?
We would also like to tell the chief minister that Guru Sahab has blessed us with this ‘baksheesh’ and he will take care of it. He should rise above petty politics and let Guru Sahab and the faith of the pilgrims overcome all obstacles”.
The Akali leader said the real reason Capt Amarinder was now objecting to the Corridor was the overwhelming response to the move by the Sikh community. “This is apparently not to the liking of the Congress party which wants to keep Sikhs divided as per age old Congress policy of divide and rule”.
Asking the chief minister to have faith in Wahe Guru and the ‘ardas’ of crores of Sikhs which had made the Corridor possible, Mr Majithia and Dr Cheema said there could not be any other reason for this miracle.
He said despite the fact that relations were strained between the two nations with the relationship even being described as hostile, the ‘baksheesh sadka’ of Guru Sahab and the ‘ardas’ of the Guru Naam Leva sangat had resulted in the realization of the dream of the Sikhs to have khule darshan deedar’ of Guru Sahab’s last resting place at Kartarpur.
They said this was a wonder in itself considering the fact that both countries did not have any trade relations or even play cricket matches with each other.
The SAD leaders also said the chief minister was jeopardizing the existence of the Corridor solely to deflect attention from the sin committed by him by defying the directive of Sri Akal Takth Sahib to take part in the joint celebrations being organized by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) on the occasion of 550 Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji on November 12 at Sultanpur Lodhi.
They said the Sikh Sangat would not forgive Capt Amarinder Singh for going against its ‘ardas’ for ‘khulle darshan deedar’ of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur and asked him to stop all activities which would hinder the realization of this dream immediately.
