SAD announces dates for 15 protest Dharnas, to complete organizational structure this month

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today decided to complete the entire party organization this month besides finalizing the schedule for protest dharnas against the Congress government’s anti people policies and programmes in the remaining 15 districts in the State.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of legislators and halqa sewadars’ as well as district presidents and senior functionaries which was presided over by SAD President Sukhbir Singh Badal.

The SAD President said the manner in which government functioning had been paralyzed, development stopped, power rates for domestic and industrial supply hiked inordinately besides deterioration of law and order it seemed there was no government in Punjab.

He said the SAD would through its series of dharnas galvanize people into action and force the government to fulfill the promises made to farmers, youth and weaker sections of society.

Giving details of the meeting, party senior vice president Dr Daljit Singh Cheema said it was decided that the party delegates would start the process of electing the Circle as well as District bodies and finish this process within a month.

He said it was also decided to intensify the ‘Rosh Dharna’ movement against the Congress party and that the party had finalized the dates for the 15 district level dharnas which would start on February 13 from Amritsar and would culminate on April 11 at Mohali. He said the party had held seven protest dharnas earlier.

He said party president Sukhbir Singh Badal would preside over the all protest dharnas and that they would also be attended by the senior leadership.

Giving details of the party programme Dr Cheema said starting from Amritsar on February 13, the dharnas would be held on February 25 at Ferozepur, February 29 at Bathinda, March 4 at Tarn Taran, March 7 at Mansa, March 9 at Anandpur Sahib (Hola Mohalla), March 10 at Fazilka, March 14 at Hoshiarpur, March 15 at Ludhiana, March 18 at Kapurthala, March 21 at Fatehgarh Sahib, March 23 at Nawanshahr, March 28 at Pathankot, March 29 at Jalandhar, April 4 at Gurdaspur and April 11 at Mohali.
