Jalandhar, Sept 29, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

A woman, who has acted in several TV serials and her husband have been arrested from Mumbai in a fraud case. They had cheated a Punjab man of Rs.3.5-crore by promising him to get an appointment as IPS and a posting of his choice.

Wanted by Jalandhar Police, the two have been identified as Sapna Ralhan (28) and her husband Puneet Kumar Ralhan (26).

Inspector Vinay Ghorpude of Mumbai Crime Branch Unit 10 told media that a raid was conducted at a plush flat in Lokhandwala in Oshiwara on the basis of specific inputs provided by the Special Investigating Team of Anti Fraud Wing of Jalandhar Police.

Ghorpude said we traced the accused couple on Jalandhar police’s request and have handed the couple over to them. It has been learnt that the SIT which is said to have camped in Mumbai for the operation have taken them on transit remand, he added.

Interestingly, the couple also gave counterfeit appointment letters of National Police Academy, Hyderabad and Defence Ministry to the ‘aspirant’ desirous of a posting as IPS.

The Punjab Police were having non-bailable warrants against the couple and the investigation had established the location of the couple where it had settled after fleeing from Punjab.

A case of cheating, forgery, breach of trust, criminal conspiracy was registered against the two.

The complainant in this case had even approached Punjab & Haryana High Court after which a SIT was formed to trace the couple who had taken shelter in Mumbai. The investigation of the SIT actually led to the arrest of the couple.
