Registration of Patient to be made online by December 1: Balbir Singh Sidhu

With a view to further streamline health services in the state, the Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu on Monday announced registration of all patients details online by December 1.

Announcing this here after chairing a high level meeting here at Parivar Kalyan Bhawan, Balbir Singh Sidhu asserted that this endeavour would revolutionize the existing state health infrastructure. This would also emcompass billing aspect of patients undergoing treatment across the state, Sidhu added.

Pertinently, the Health Minister had earlier directed the department to evolve a unified mechanism to address all concerns of patients regarding delay in treatment due to manual feeding of records. The department had studied PGIMER model and suggested a model which could provide the all details of patients with the single click.

Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu further said that it would become past when needy patients suffered a lot to keep their medical records with them for the further treatment and it would also prove helpful to classify common diseases across the state.

He said that all Sub Divisional Hospitals would also link with online system in one month and laboratories of health department would become available under it within 3 months.

To permanently sort out the issue of shortage of medicines, the Minister said that Punjab Health System Corporation is going to connect all government hospitals with the online server which will automatically generate the order of medicines and simultaneously raised the flag of re-order level. He said that it would also make it easy to monitor the availability of stock of around 250 kinds of free medicine in the Government hospitals.

Reviewing the rising cases of Dengue reported in November, It was discussed in the meeting that role of Deptt. of Health starts with testing and treatment of cases however, it is prerogative of Local Govt and Rural Development Department to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes in order to prevent dengue.

It was emphasized by Health Minister that District teams of health department should pay special attention in the migratory populations where maximum number of dengue cases had been reported.

He said that disease of dengue could be prevented by proactive role of Local Govt. in urban areas and Rural Development and Panchayats in rural areas of the State adding that he said the transmission season of Influenza A H1N1 is going to start very soon in the State.

The morbidity and mortality related to Influenza A H1N1 can be decreased by timely reporting and initiation of treatment anb directed to setup in the OPD (Medical) of each hospital and labeled as “Flu Corner” for all suspected cases.

Reviewing the functioning of Health & Wellness Centres, Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu directed the Civil Surgeons to conduct regular survey of patients under Non Communicable Diseases program so as to treatment services would be provided to newly identified patients of Diabetes, Hypertension and other common diseases.

He said that at present total 1369 H&W centres had been made operational in the State and now its duty of Senior Medical Officers to check the attendance of Community Health Officer and other supporting staff in their respective H&W Centres.

He also instructed the Civil Surgeons that medical and para-medical staff would display their identity-cards and special budget would also allocated for the uniform. The meeting also discussed the PC&PNDT Act, Mother Child Health Programme, Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana, TB Control Programme, and Cancer Control Programme.
