Real Health Minister Punjab Gets Fake Health Minister Arrested

Commissionerate Police Amritsar has taken cognizance of a complaint regarding impersonation, falsely projecting oneself as a Cabinet Minister and officials from his office, with the intent to exert undue pressure and issue illegal directions.

A written complaint was received from a Senior Medical Officer posted at Civil Hospital, Amritsar, stating that on the said date, while he was present in his office, he received a call at about 10:34 AM on his mobile number.

The caller initially introduced himself as Dr. Balbir Singh, Cabinet Minister, and made several intimidating statements, alleging mismanagement in Civil Hospital Amritsar. The caller attempted to interfere in official matters by issuing illegal instructions, including:

• Removal of certain staff members from service,

• Pressurizing for continuation of particular individuals at specific posts,

• Making abusive and derogatory remarks against hospital staff,

• Claiming false associations with government machinery and ministerial vehicles.

Upon being questioned again regarding his identity, the caller changed his version and claimed to be Gurjeet Singh from the office of Dr. Balbir Singh, Minister. The complainant further stated that the caller mentally harassed and pressurized him by repeatedly asserting false authority.

Subsequently, the SMO, Amritsar brought the matter to the notice of the Civil Surgeon, Amritsar. The Civil Surgeon, in turn, discussed the issue with Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, who categorically denied any such call or directions and issued clear instructions to initiate legal action in the matter.

Based on the contents of the complaint, the act of impersonation, criminal intimidation, and misuse of identity to influence public servants was established. Legal action has been initiated accordingly.
