Ravneet Bittu slams leaders taking stand in support of Rajoana

Ludhiana, October 3, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

While questioning the reliability of the leaders speaking in favour of Balwant Singh Rajoana, Member of Parliament from Ludhiana Mr Ravneet Singh Bittu today said that it was strange that those politicians, who were themselves beneficiaries of our democratic process of voting, were now speaking in favour of Rajoana, who had openly claimed to have no faith in Indian democracy.

In a press statement issued here today, Mr Ravneet Singh Bittu said that the politicians, who are now welcoming commuting of Balwant Singh Rajoana’s death sentence into life imprisonment, have themselves witnessed the black days of terrorism, in which thousands of innocent people lost their lives, just because they believed in the Indian democracy.

He stated that some politicians were terming this development of commuting Rajoana’s death sentence into life imprisonment as “applying balm to the wounds of Sikhs”, which clearly shows their petty mindset.

He alleged that such politicians were merely trying to earn some brownie points for petty political gains and are tagging Sikhs as terrorists. “They (politicians speaking in support of Rajoana) should clarify whether Sikhs or Punjabis are terrorists!,” questioned MP Bittu.

Ravneet Bittu said that during the black days of terrorism in Punjab, people like Rajoana used to threaten innocent people who participated in the electoral process of Indian democracy.

“They used to threaten people by stating that if any person participates in voting, they would chop off their fingers. Politicians supporting Rajoana should not forget that they themselves were a result of the same electoral process, which people like Rajoana strongly opposed,” said Bittu.

Mr Ravneet Singh Bittu further stated that he himself or his family does not have any personal enmity with either Balwant Singh Rajoana or any other terrorist, and infact it was former Chief Minister Beant Singh, who sacrificed his life for safeguarding the Indian democracy.

He said that intelligent Punjabis were noticing these acts of such politicians minutely and they would certainly give a befitting reply to them soon. He said that the need of the hour was that such politicians should stop patronising people like Balwant Singh Rajoana if they want to save our youth.

MP Bittu said that the Modi government and their alliance partner Shiromani Akali Dal has stooped so low for petty political gains that they are now equating this unfortunate incident with the 550th Parkash Purab celebrations of first Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

He said that this clearly depicts that the BJP and Akali Dal want to patronise those having terrorist agenda throughout their life.

MP Ravneet Singh Bittu said that with this unfortunate decision, the notorious Narendra Modi-Amit Shah-Sukhbir Singh Badal trio have provided respite and empowered Khalistanis as well as people supporting Referendum 2020.

He said that on one side the Punjab Police was working hard to bust several terror modules in the state, and on the other the Union government on the behest of Akalis was patronising Khalistanis as well as the extremists who created havoc during the dark days of terrorism in Punjab.

He said that this clearly shows that the Narendra Modi-Amit Shah-Sukhbir Singh Badal trio want to disrupt the hard earned peace and communal harmony of the state, for which Chief Minister Beant Singh laid down his life.

MP Bittu said that he, along with all peace loving Punjabis, would continue his fight against people like Rajoana because he would not let anyone disrupt the hard earned peace and communal harmony of Punjab.
