Ration distribution system becomes completely transparent in Punjab: Bharat Bhushan Ashu claims during Republic Day

The Minister for Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu today hoisted tricolor on the occasion of 71st Republic Day celebrations held at stadium in Nehru Memorial College today.

Addressing the people of Mansa, the Minister said that reiterating its commitment to give good governance and bringing complete transparency in ration distribution system, biometric tech based smart cards have been issued. Those beneficiaries, who are yet to get their smart cards, are soon being issued the same.

He added that by opening the Kartarpur corridor, Punjab government has given people of country access to have darshan of the birth place of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Now the state government has planned celebrating 399th Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur ji. 350th birth anniversary of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Ji and birth centenary of 10th Chief Acharya of Jain religion Sri Mahan Pragya Ji with complete fervor and enthusiasm.

He added that besides this, the Punjab government has waived off debt of around 6 lakh farmers worth Rs 4736 cr and the scheme will be continued. Also the government has ensured that farmers’ produce is being procured within 48 hours and timely payment has also been done.

Minister said that continuing its battle against drugs, the Punjab government has cut off supply line of thr drugs. The recovery of heroin from 119 kg in year 2017 has increased to 193 432 kg in year 2019. Besides this, to provide respite and treatment to the drug addicts, government has opened 35 drug de addiction centers and 119 OOAT clinics in district.

During today’s R day celebrations, the contingents of Punjab police, home guards, NCC and scouts gave salutation to the tricolor. Students from different schools presented cultural show and choreography. The freedom fighters, veer naris and achievers in different fields were also honored.

Chief Gues especially gave Rs 21000 cash prize to the Army band of 17 Dogra Regiment for their performace. Besides this the winners of Mera Pind, Mera Maan contest were also honored including namely Naujawan Ekta Club Bhai Desa and Bhai Kanhaiya Club Burj Dhilwan. The chief guest announced Rs 2.5 lacs each cash prize for the winners.

14 departments of the Mansa administration presented their tableaux show casing achivements of government in different sectors. District Program officer Mrs Avinash Kaur Walia was awarded first prize for tableaux on Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and district coordinator MNREGA Mr Mandeep Singh Sidhu was given prize second prize. ADC (D) Mr Gurmeet Singh Sidhu was the in charge for tableaux.

MLA Mansa Mr Najar Singh Manshahia, chairman District Planning Board Mr Prem Mittal, chairman Zila Parishad Dr Narinder Bhargav, ADC (G) Mr Rajdeep Singh Brar, ADC (D) Mr Gurmeet Singh Sidhu, Assistant Commissioner (general) Mr Navdeep Kumar, district and sessions judge Mrs Mandeep Pannu, former MLA Mr Ajit Inder Singh Mofar, District president Dr Manju Bansal, chairman safai commission union Mr Ram Singh and others were also present.

Holiday for Jan 27 has been declared for all the educational institutes that participated in the function today.
