While the election campaign is going on in the state, on the other hand the employees of the National Health Mission of the state are on strike demanding regularization of their services. Health services in the state have come to a complete standstill.
The talks of the NHM representatives are going on continuously with the ministers, but no result of these meetings has been found so far. Dr Inderjit Singh Rana, representative from the core committee of National Health Mission personnel, says that the state government cannot deny from its responsibilities towards these employees by calling the National Health Mission personnel a part of the central government’s plan.
These employees are recruited by the state government itself; if we are giving our services to the people of the state, it is also the responsibility of the state government to secure their future.
If the intention of the state government is in favor of the employees, then there are many ways to make these employees regular. Recently, these employees can also be regularized under the bill made by the state government to regularize the employees. Apart from this, by forming a separate society, the services of these employees can also be regularized under it.
In other states also, the employees of National Health Mission have been regularized or they are being paid equal to the regular employees, then similarly these employees can be given equal salary in the state of Punjab as well. Expressing his resentment towards the state government, Dr. Rana said that today the National Health Mission has become a means of earning money for the state government and a mere machinery of exploitation for the young employees.
In this regard, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, another member of the NHM core committee, says that the employees are trying to convey their anger to the state government through dharna demonstrations.
If the government still does not take any decision to secure the future of the employees, then not only now but also during the election code of conduct, the government will have to face similar rage against itself everywhere in the state.
Other members of the core committee of National Health Mission Punjab, Jaswinder Kaur, Sukhjit, Amarjeet, Arun Dutt, Dr. Jitendra, Maninder Singh, Ramanpreet Kaur, etc. say that a government that cannot secure the future of its few thousand employees; What security will that government give to the three crore people of the state? It has been announced by the NHM Core Committee to hold the next huge rally in Bathinda district on Tuesday.
