Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Saturday asserted that the people of the state had already decided to return the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to power in the 2027 Assembly elections, claiming that his government’s welfare initiatives and governance reforms had earned widespread public support.
Addressing a Lok Milni programme at Charik village in Moga, Mann highlighted the government’s flagship initiatives, including free electricity for nearly 90 per cent of households, the ₹10 lakh Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, financial assistance for women, expanded canal irrigation and transparent recruitment to government jobs.
The Chief Minister said Punjab had significantly increased the use of canal water for irrigation, reducing dependence on groundwater. He claimed the government had laid around 14,000 kilometres of pipelines and watercourses and was supplying daytime electricity to farmers during the paddy season, a departure from the earlier practice of night-time power supply.
Mann also said over 68,000 government jobs had been provided purely on merit without corruption or political recommendations. He reiterated that public funds were being utilised for development, healthcare, education and infrastructure projects aimed at improving the lives of citizens.
During the event, the Chief Minister handed over a grant of ₹51 lakh for the development of Charik village and announced that 100 new Aam Aadmi Clinics had been dedicated to the people, taking the total number of operational clinics in Punjab to 1,090.
Mann also criticised opposition parties, alleging they lacked leadership and a vision for Punjab, and claimed that the electorate would reject attempts to return them to power.
